About Ziro
Blood tests are usually treated as an event. They work better as a habit.
Ziro exists because the interesting information in your bloodwork is in how it moves, and almost nobody is set up to see that.
Once a year is the wrong cadence
The annual blood test is a scheduling convention. It lines up with a check-up, an insurance requirement or a birthday, and none of those have anything to do with how quickly the markers themselves move.
Twelve months is long enough for something to drift a long way and arrive back looking unremarkable. It is also short enough that one unusual morning — a bad night's sleep, a hard session two days before, a cold you were getting over — lands in the middle of your only data point for the year, and you have no way to tell.
Measure monthly and both of those problems get smaller. The ordinary noise starts to average out, and a genuine change has somewhere to show up.
We are the layer, not the laboratory
Owning a laboratory is a genuine advantage for a testing company. It gives you control of the process and it gives you margin. It also means every sample goes to one place, whatever the question, and that the company grading its own homework is the company selling you the test.
We took the other route. Ziro works with accredited partner laboratories. The laboratory is responsible for the accuracy of your results under its ISO 15189 accreditation, and we are responsible for the kit reaching you, the sample arriving usable, and your results being presented honestly.
It means we can tell you who ran your test. It also means that if a better laboratory exists for a particular marker, we can use it without having to defend a building.
Home collection had to get easier first
None of this is a new idea. The reason it has not been practical is that getting blood out of people is inconvenient. A clinic appointment, in working hours, fasted, across town, is a lot to ask twelve times a year.
Collection devices have changed that. The device in the Ziro kit is made by Tasso, presses against the outer part of your upper arm, and fills a small tube in about five minutes. There is no syringe and no vein involved. That is the piece that makes a monthly series realistic rather than theoretical.
What we do, and what we do not
We give you laboratory results and the context to read them: what each marker indicates, how yours have moved, and what has changed since last month. That is the whole of it.
We do not diagnose. We do not screen for disease. We do not tell you what your results mean for you personally, and we are not a replacement for your GP. If something in your results warrants a conversation, that conversation is with a doctor, and we will say so plainly rather than dressing it up as a feature.
We would rather be useful and narrow than impressive and vague.
